Weirdly I was thinking about this bloke for no reason a couple of days ago wondering if he was still alive. There's my answer then.

I remember he broke his neck at one point with Motorhead. Carried on drumming with his head in one of those big metal frames.

No one likes to farewell an old mate.but other interests are shelved as we pay a tribute to those that have departed their mortal coil.
Just be responsible with your respects Len.

Shit!
I lived and breathed Motorhead in that era from the first album through to Another Perfect Day. I went to see them 3 times in 4 days on the Iron Fist tour.
I was also Motorheadbanger no. 68 in the original fan club run by Phil's little sister Helen. Still got my tatty old membership certificate.
Sad that another bit of my youth has gone, and respect as ever to Lemmy for outliving him!
I don't want to live forever... but apparently I am!

Sad day indeed....Bungo...I was a Motorheadbanger too,I remember seeing them on the Ace of Spades tour where they were supported by Girlschool and I also saw them on the Bomber tour when Saxon supported them (I think)....R.I.P Phil.

The dates I saw on the Ace of Spades tour they were supported by Weapon.
Got quite friendly with Danny and Bruce in later life when they were variously in Paddy Goes To Holyhead and The Wandering Crutchlees.
Saxon were definitely the support on the Bomber tour. I remember Lemmy coming on stage while they were playing with a broom, sweeping the stage, fag hanging out of his mouth. Saw Biff reproduce this gag some years later when Saxon were headlining.
That was my first Motorhead gig at the end of that tour. I remember being stunned by the incredible noise that Motorhead produced. Still the loudest band I've ever seen.
Happy daze!
